Business Students for PhD scholarship news item

The School have a range of fully-funded PhD scholarships available for the very best students looking to start their PhD with the Business School in October 2025.

The Business School is well known for its excellent research and in the last UK government Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) assessment all of the School’s submissions were rated either world-leading or internationally significant. 

Fully-funded PhD scholarships for 2025/26 

Our research community is diverse and inclusive supported by 14 research centres. To support inclusivity and the pursuit of research excellence the School is offering a number of scholarships linked to our research centres. 

Each scholarship is funded for a period of three years and pays for tuition fees at Home and international level as well as a financial stipend for each of the three years. 

Prospective applicants should contact members of the research centres with details of their proposed research topic to seek their advice on developing the proposal they wish to submit.

In addition to the School’s 2025/26 PhD scholarships there are other funding opportunities. 

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) NINE DTP studentships. 

The ESRC offers a range of studentships available for a 3-year PhD, or a Masters by Research and PhD (1+3 year), or a 3.5-year PhD plus research training. These are Available for both home and international students. (Application deadline: 20 January 2025). 

Durham-Chinese Scholarships Council (CSC) studentships. 

The scholarships are open to applicants from Mainland China wishing to study for a PhD at Durham. There are 25 awards available in all disciplines. (Application deadline: 15 January).
