Sustainability focused
Sustainability is central to our work, with the University aiming for Net Zero by 2035 and a net biodiversity gain by 2032. In 2023/24, 15% of our Business School published research focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) themes. Notable contributions include Atanu Chaudhuri’s pioneering research on plastics recycling and Helen Goworek’s Climate Literacy Training which equips individuals and organisations to tackle climate change effectively.
Our Strategising for Sustainable Futures module allows students to engage in project-based research addressing global challenges, entrepreneurship, and enterprise. BA Business and Management alumna Megan Holley applied this knowledge to launch a scrunchie startup promoting education empowerment.
The opening of our Waterside Building in 2024 marks our transition to a multi-site business school and reinforces our commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation. Designed with sustainability at its core, it aligns with our ESG goals and has earned the prestigious SKA Rating Gold Award for meeting the highest sustainability standards.
